What Is a Medical Syringe?

Syringes are vital pieces of medical equipment, used for many purposes and procedures throughout the medical world. They come in a wide range of shapes, sizes, and forms, from hypodermic syringes to tuberculin syringes, flush syringes, Luer lock syringes, and bulb syringes.

Many hospitals, labs, clinics, and other healthcare institutions invest in wholesale syringes to use for a range of medical procedures. Hypodermic syringes, for example, can be used for administering various kinds of injections, such as vaccine injections, while IV syringes are a useful part of infusion therapy.

Syringes may differ in terms of their size and design, but generally all feature three main components: a barrel, or central container, which stores the liquid, as well as a plunger for controlling the flow of liquid and a spout, needle, or tip for ejecting or drawing out fluid. Wholesale syringes usually also have graduated markings along the side to show how much fluid they contain.

How Does a Medical Syringe Work?

The way in which syringes are used will depend on what kind of syringe is being used and how it is being used. However, the procedure is generally quite similar, regardless of the type of syringe or the procedure in question. For example, for a vaccine injection, a syringe with a needle attached will first be lowered into a vial of the vaccine and the plunger will be used to draw it out. The needle can then pierce the skin of the patient and the plunger will be used once more to push the fluid into the patient’s bloodstream.

Wholesale Syringe Sizes

Wholesale syringes are available in a wide range of different sizes, ranging from small syringes to much larger variants. Some of them can hold a fraction of a milliliter of liquid, while others are capable of holding 50ml of liquid or much more. Different sizes have different applications.

Wholesale Syringe Types

Wholesale syringes can be divided into many different categories, or types. There are Luer lock syringes, for example, which have Luer lock mechanisms to keep the needles in place and reduce the risk of injury, as well as safety syringes, which are also designed to minimize the chances of injuries. There are IV syringes, used for infusion, as well as flushing syringes to flush catheters and intravenous lines. Many other varieties are also available.

Medical Syringe Uses

The main use of syringes is to either draw fluids out of the body or inject fluids and medicines into the body. They can be used for anything from administering insulin to a patient with diabetes to drawing out the blood of a pregnant woman for analysis.
