What Is an Optical Trocar?

How Does an Optical Trocar Work?
Optical trocars work just like many other kinds of trocars, as they need to be pushed into the body through an incision. First, the incision will need to be made, usually with the aid of anesthetic to numb any pain for the patient. Then, the optical trocar can be pushed into position, and the medical team can use the viewing area provided by the optical trocar to guide it into place with minimal risk of damage to surrounding tissue.

Optical Trocar Types
There are a couple of different types of optical trocars. One example is the dilating tip optical trocar.
