What Is a 6-0 Suture?
Medical sutures are used on a daily basis to seal wounds and stitch surgical sites back together to help patients heal, and there are various sizes of medical sutures available for use. They are usually measured according to the USP (United States Pharmacopeia) system, with sizes ranging from 11-0 USP to 7 USP (the widest). 6-0 sutures are a commonly used size.
6-0 sutures are among the narrower sizes of medical sutures, measuring just 0.07mm in diameter. They're significantly narrower than the likes of 0, 1, 2, and 3 sized medical sutures, for example, but still not quite as narrow as the likes of 11-0 and 10-0 sutures.
