What Is an IV Kit?
An IV kit, as the name implies, is a set of medical components, accessories, and items used for setting up an intravenous (IV) line. These kits are used in many hospitals worldwide to provide patients with fluids, medications, blood, and more.
The contents of IV kits can vary, but they often contain almost all the items you need to start up an IV line, including a tourniquet, gauze, tape, antiseptic wipes, medical gloves, and more. All of the items are sterile and ready to use upon arrival, but these kits do not usually contain catheters, tubes, or IV bags, which are all sold separately.

How Does an IV Kit Work?
An IV kit gives you many of the components you need to start preparing an IV line, and each item has its own purpose and use. Medical gloves are included in many kits to keep the procedure clean and sanitary, for example, and pieces of tap may also be found in kits to help attach the IV line or cannula to the patient's body. Kits often contain gauge, wipes, and other essentials, too.
