3M 1294-S - Attest Rapid Ethylene Oxide Biological Indicator for EO, 4-Hour Readout, Green Cap, Sterile, 300/bx, 2 bx/cs

The ISO 11138-1:2017 and ISO 11138-2:2017 compliant 3M Attest Rapid Ethylene Oxide Biological Indicator, 1294-S, is appropriate for use in industrial (Life Sciences) ethylene oxide (EO, EtO) sterilization applications when verified by the end user. The self-contained biological indicator (BI) consists of a Bacillus atrophaeus spore strip and sealed glass ampoule with growth media. The spore strip and media ampoule are contained in a plastic vial topped with a green color-coded cap. The label includes a chemical process indicator. The BI is packaged in a foil pouch designed to protect the product from humidity excursions.

After the ethylene oxide sterilization process, the BI is activated to join the growth media with the processed spore strip. The BI is incubated in a 3M Attest 390G Auto-reader for a final fluorescent result at 4 hours. When processed, the chemical process indicator turns from reddish-brown to green

Attest Rapid Ethylene Oxide Biological Indicator Innovative Efficient Precise Quality

Attest 1294-S biological indicator is comprised of a paper carrier inoculated with a standardized population of Bacillus atrophaeus ATCC 9372 spores, a non-woven macro-porous material, a glass ampoule containing proprietary recovery medium, a plastic cap with filter, and a transparent plastic sleeve. The biological indicator has a chemical process indicator on the label that will change from reddishbrown to green upon exposure to the ethylene oxide sterilization process. The recovery medium will produce a fluorescent response detected by the Attest Auto-reader if active spore associated beta-glucosidase enzyme is present, and a pH color change from blue-green to yellow if viable spores are present and continued incubation conditions are satisfactory.

The performance features of each lot of Attest 1294-S are documented on the 3M Quality Certificate included with each package stating population and D-Value along with 3M specification ranges to help establish validation protocols. 3M specification ranges are narrower than those as described in ISO standards and have a high level of reproducibility. No other manufacturer provides this information with every lot of product. Packaged to provide breakage and humidity excursion protection, Attest 1294-S has a two year shelf life.
