Silicone Round Drains without Trocar

Jackson-Pratt round drains are available in both silicone and PVC per physician preference and feature a radiopaque stripe running the entire length of the drain tubing for X-ray detection. All perforated round drains come in a one-piece design and are hubless.

A Jackson-Pratt Drain (also called a JP Drain) is a closed-suction medical device that is commonly used as a post-operative drain for collecting bodily fluids from surgical sites. The device consists of an internal drain connected to a grenade-shaped bulb via plastic tubing.

The purpose of a drain is to prevent fluid (blood or other) build-up in a closed ("dead") space,[2] which may cause either disruption of the wound and the healing process or become an infected abscess, with either scenario possibly requiring a formal drainage/repair procedure (and possibly another trip to the operating room). The drain is also used to evacuate an internal abscess before surgery when an infection already exists.[3] If the drainage tubing becomes clogged or otherwise clotted off, the benefits are not realized from drainage.

Feature

  • Jackson-Pratt flat drains are made of a silicone elastomer for softness and flexibility, featuring.
  • Injection molded forstrength and drain integrity.
  • Low-proile, hubless design to help promote tissue plane approximation.
  • Innerlumen ribbing to help prevent drain collapse and clogging and help preserve drain patency.
  • Silicone thatis barium impregnated for X-ray detection of drain.

What is Wound Darin?

A surgical drain is a tube used to remove pus, blood or other fluids from a wound. Drains inserted after surgery do not result in faster wound healing or prevent infection but are sometimes necessary to drain body fluid which may accumulate and in itself become a focus of infection.

Round and flat drains are indicated for:
  • Cardio surgery.
  • Neurosurgery and spine surgery.
  • Plastic surgery.
  • General and abdominal surgery.
  • Vascular surgery.
