Universa Firm Ureteral Stent Set with Hydrophilic Coating
Used for temporary internal drainage from the ureteropelvic junction to the bladder. Universa stents have AQ hydrophilic coating, a microthin layer of hydrophilic polymer that, when activated, attracts and holds water and other liquids to the stent, creating a low-friction surface. The stent features a braided tether designed for repositioning and ease of removal. It also features graduation marks to aid in placement. Thermosensitive material is firm during placement but softens in the body. Set includes stent with pigtail straightener, stent positioner with radiopaque tip, and wire guide.
CAUTION: Complications of ureteral stent placement are documented. Use of this device should be based upon consideration of risk-benefit factors as they apply to your patient. Informed consent should be obtained to maximize patient compliance with follow-up procedures.
NOTE: Prior to use, immerse stent in sterile water or isotonic saline to allow the hydrophilic surface to absorb water and become lubricious. This will ease placement under standard conditions.
