Welch-Allyn DS45-09 - Durashock Sphyg Premium W/Cuff Child Ea

Silver Series DS45 Integrated and Pocket Aneroids

Welch Allyn DuraShock DS45 Integrated Aneroid Sphygmomanometer; Gear Free, Shock Resistant, Laser Engraved Dial, 10-Year Calibration Warranty; Premium Inflation Bulb and Valve; Size-09 Child, FlexiPort Reusable, 1-Tube Cuff

This integrated-style gauge with its cuff-mounted design is compact and lightweight for patient comfort and ease of use. In use, the gauge rests on the outer part of the patients arm. With gear-free DuraShock technology, you can count on the robust design of the DS48 Integrated Aneroid to remain in calibration longer than traditional aneroids, providing more accurate readings over time and a lower lifetime cost, helping to improve practice efficiencies and your bottom line.

  • Gear-free DuraShock technology
  • Certified accuracy to +/- 3 mmHg
  • Unsurpassed reliability with a unique integrated, cuff-mounted design
  • Withstands a 30" drop, AAMI's standard shock resistant requirement
  • Gauge rotates 360 degree, for easy viewing from any angle
  • Gauge snaps directly into cuff for quick cuff changes
  • Laser-engraved dial face for accuracy
  • 10-year calibration warranty
  • Latex-free for safety

Intended use

Welch Allyn non-automated sphygmomanometers are noninvasive blood pressure measurement devices intended for use in conjunction with an inflatable cuff and stethoscope to determine blood pressure in pediatric through adult patients.

Operation

Blood pressure measurements can be affected by the position of the patient and their physiologic condition. Before beginning a procedure, ensure that the patient rests for at least five minutes, has support of their back and feet, and does not cross their legs. Passively support the patients lower arm and keep the upper arm at heart level. The procedure needs to take place in a quiet environment with no talking. Failure to follow these recommendations can result in inaccurate blood pressure measurements.

  • Select cuff size appropriate for the patients arm circumference. The applicable range, in centimeters, is printed on each cuff.
NOTE: The "Artery Index Marker" on the cuff should fall within the "Range" indicated on FlexiPort cuffs. The "Index Edge" on the cuff should fall within the Range indicated on Two-Piece Reusable cuffs. If the artery index marker or index edge falls short of the range, use a larger cuff to ensure accurate results. If the artery index marker or index edge is past the range, use a smaller cuff to ensure accurate results.
  • Wrap the cuff around the arm with the artery index marker located over the brachial artery and with the lower edge of the cuff 2.5 cm above the bend in the elbow.
  • Inflate cuff rapidly to a level 30 mm Hg above estimated (or palpatory) systolic pressure.
  • Partially open the valve to allow deflation at a rate of 2 to 3 mm Hg per second. As the pressure falls, note systolic pressure and diastolic pressure detected with your stethoscope.
  • Rapidly release the remaining pressure and record measurements immediately. After a minimum of 30 seconds, repeat the above steps for a second reading.

Operational Guidelines

The operator should have a direct view, and be within a meter, of the gauge during measurement. For manual blood pressure measurements, K5 is recommended for adult patients and K4 for pediatric patients ages 3 to 12. For pregnant females, clinician should use K5 , unless sounds are audible with a deflated cuff, in which case K4 should be used. NOTE: K5 is the point at which the Korotkoff sounds cannot be heard. K4 is the change in the tones heard from a clear sound to a muffled sound.

Welch Allyn DuraShock Technology

With gear-free DuraShock technology, you can count on the DS58 aneroid to remain in calibration longer than traditional aneroids, providing more accurate readings over time and a lower lifetime cost, helping to improve practice efficiencies and your bottom line.

Welch Allyns complete line of aneroid sphygmomanometers incorporating our shock-resistant DuraShock technology offers practical benefits compared to traditional aneroid sphygmomanometers. With gear-free DuraShock technology, you can count on Welch Allyn gauges to:

  • Remain in calibration longer than traditional blood pressure gauges, providing you with readings that maintain accuracy over time.
  • Not need to be replaced as often as traditional aneroids, giving you a lower lifetime cost.
  • Be capable of passing AAMIs shock resistant specification of surviving a 76 cm drop onto a hard surface and remaining in calibration.
